Stardust
Goes to Camp with the San Gabriel Valley Council of Boy Scouts
7/12/01
The
Stardust mission will be represented on the sleeves of 4,000
San Gabriel Valley boy scouts at this year's National Scout
Jamboree, July 23 to August 1, 2001, at Fort A.P. Hill in
Caroline County, Virginia. The San Gabriel Valley Chapter
of the Boy Scouts of America has selected NASA's fourth Discovery
Mission and Jet Propulsion Laboratory as the best representation
of the area in which they live.
Troop
patches will be traded throughout the week long event and
troop members will give presentations to other scouts from
across the United States about Stardust and JPL. All participating
troops have designed a "gateway" or entrance into their camp
site area. San Gabriel Valley troops gateway will display
the Stardust spacecraft encountering Comet Wild 2, along with
various Stardust ../../../images and a mission description. This year's
theme for the jamboree is "Strong Values, Strong Leaders,
Character Counts."
