This is a live view from the Kershner Space Building at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, MD, where the MESSENGER spacecraft is being built and tested. Over the next several months, MESSENGER team members will install the spacecraft's electronic components, scientific instruments, and the 6-foot sunshade designed to protect MESSENGER while it orbits the planet closest to the sun.
