The engineering model Genesis Payload Canister has completed integration and has started environmental testing in JPL's dynamics test lab. Genesis is a solar wind sample return mission, scheduled to launch in January 2001 and return samples in early 2003.

The principal elements of the Genesis hardware are supplied by JPL (sample canister and collector arrays), Los Alamos National Labs (solar wind concentrator and monitors) and Lockheed Martin Astronautics (spacecraft and sample return capsule).
